Dancin' Thru the Dark

Strictly Miscellaneous

A brilliant comedy from Willy Russell, writer of Shirley Valentine and Educating Rita!

Never before been released on DVD!

Synopsis

Dancin’ Thru The Dark an adaptation of his hit play ‘Stags and Hens’, set in Liverpool in which a group of girls and local lads venture out for a night of pre-marriage stag and hen party celebrations which ironically ends up with them both partying at the same disco, Brancky’s.

Linda’s out on her hen night, Dave’s out on his stag night but Linda is having major doubts about getting married. When both groups arrive at Brancky’s they find the band playing there is fronted by Linda’s ex-boyfriend and the love of her life – Peter, a musician with a single climbing up the pop charts.

Linda has to decide. Does she stay and settle down, like her friends want her to, or does she throw it all in and run away with Peter?

A beautiful film, which captures the sadness, squalor and decay of post- Beatles Liverpool and the wasted young lives of those growing up there. The superb ensemble of well-rounded characters combined with the writing by Willy Russell and the energetic direction by Mike Ockrent make this a film to remember.
