It's ice baths and impressions for Rory Bremner as he limbers up for his debut on the ballroom dancing competition.
Poor Nancy Dell’Olio. This year’s Strictly Come Dancing has barely begun but already the world-renowned lawyer, intellectual and sophisticate is being treated as if she were some kind of joke figure. “In the group dance there’s a bit where we have to circle each other – like mating cats, really,” says Rory Bremner, who, like Dell’Olio, has heroically accepted the challenge of wobbling round a dancefloor in preposterous costumes on prime-time television. “And after day one [of rehearsals] I thought, ‘Oh, what the hell,’ so I just amused myself by whispering in her ear as Sven [Göran Eriksson, Dell’Olio’s ex-boyfriend]. Just going, ‘Well, a-well… you look laaahv-lee tonight…’ She kept saying, ‘Who’s that?! Who’s that?!’” Bremner chuckles. “Forgotten him already…”
