Lulu's an early favourite?

Lulu and Brendan Cole

Lulu has emerged as the early favourite on Strictly Come Dancing as she and Russell Grant stole the show with their dubious dancing skills on the launch night of the BBC1 series.

Anita Dobson and Holly Valance may have been crowned the night's best dancers as they were placed top of the leader board following high scores from the judges, but the true star of the inaugural Strictly Come Dancing live show was undoubtedly Lulu.

The veteran singer danced with partner Brendan Cole, but seemed to surrender to opening-night nerves as she missed several steps and collapsed in fits of giggles into Brendan's arms at the end of the performance.
