AS the Queen celebrates her Diamond Jubilee this summer, the king of family entertainment will be marking an even greater anniversary, albeit in a slightly more understated fashion.

For 2012 marks the 70th year since Sir Bruce Forsyth made his first professional appearance on the stage. It was 1942, the year scientists were developing the atom bomb, when Boy Bruce the Mighty Atom was launched.
