Sports presenter Gabby Logan is off to the Beeb after quitting ITV, it was announced today.Auntie wants her to host live sporting events and a new BBC1 sports news programme next summer. She will also work on Five Live projects.

The mother-of-two, who is married to rugby player Kenny Logan, said she was “thrilled” at her new job and couldn’t resist the opportunity.

ITV replaced Gabby during World Cup coverage with Steve Rider, a move which upset the 33-year-old.

She said at the time: “It dented my confidence and made me question my abilities. If you’ve got ambition and you want to do well, it’s obviously disappointing.”

ITV bosses also stopped her from appearing on the BBC’s hit show Strictly Come Dancing but said she could take part in ITV’s Dancing On Ice.

Despite ITV’s sidelining of the popular presenter, Gabby was twice crowned Sports Presenter of the Year.

ITV’s director of sport, Mark Sharman thanked Logan for her contributions and wished her “all the best”.
