Dance show heads towards climax

Strictly 4

BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing reaches its climax later as cricketer Mark Ramprakash and ex-rugby star Matt Dawson go head-to-head in the final. The pair will do five dances each, including two of their favourites.

Bookmaker Coral has cut its odds on Dawson winning from 11/8 to 5/4 but Mark Ramprakash is favourite at Ladbrokes, with odds of 4/9.

The series sees celebrities paired with professional dancers and challenged to learn new dances in a week.

"I am always amazed at the standard of the dancers throughout all of the series but somehow this year has been exceptional," said the show's host Bruce Forsyth.

All the couples from the series will return to perform their favourite dance again in the Saturday evening finale.

Dawson has chosen the waltz and samba as the personal favourites he will perform with partner Lilia Kopylova, while Ramprakash has plumped for the tango and salsa with Karen Hardy.

The two finalists will also have to perform a dance chosen by the judges, a Viennese waltz and a new show dance.

Previous winners of the show have been Darren Gough, Jill Halfpenny and Natasha Kaplinsky.

Former Spice Girl Emma Bunton was voted out of this year's series in the penultimate show.

Ramprakash and his partner Karen Hardy scored the highest points of the series when the four judges awarded them 39 out of 40 for their Argentine tango last week.
