Luke one step away from dance show crown

A former Brooksby Melton College students is now just a small twinkle-toed step away from being crowned Britain’s favourite dancer after making the final of BBC1 show So You Think You Can Dance.

Jazz dancer Luke Jackson (30) is one of four contestants who battled their way through the semi-finals and will now be going head-to-head on Saturday to win the show, the winner receiving £50,000 and an invitation to dance on the US version of the show.

Luke steps up bid to win BBC talent contest

Dancer Luke Jackson has shimmied his way into the final of BBC1 talent show So You Think You Can Dance. The 30-year-old, from Aylestone, Leicester, is one of the four contestants who made it through Saturday's semi-finals.

Judges and the voting public were impressed by his efforts in a broadway-style duet, a racy group number and a jazz dance solo.

Army of fans to cheer

Two dancers will have an army of supporters cheering them on tonight as they try to wow the judges on So You Think You Can Dance.

Tom Shilcock, 23, and Luke Jackson, 30, are among the final 20 dancers in the hit BBC1 show.

Tonight is the first time contestants have been under threat of elimination.

SYTYCD 2 - Meet Luke Jackson

Leicester Jazz dancer Luke is 21 but started dancing aged 11 when he was the only boy in class. As he was shy, he used to keep his dancing a secret from pupils at school. Luke says "I'm laid back and down-to-earth but more focused on the show than anything in ages, I can be shy but not when performing."

After studying at Laines Theatre Arts, Luke's first job was in the ensemble of Saturday Night Fever. Following that, he performed in Copa Cabana in Denmark and then the West End show Phantom of the Opera.
