Here's what happened to the Dancing With the Stars finalists on Monday night: Ricki Lake did her best not to screw up the lifts in her freestyle dance — "I was really afraid of falling down," she said. J.R. Martinez put on a good face after screwing up his cha cha when his injured ankle started to give out.

"I did panic," he said, "because I rolled my ankle in my shoe and I went into a step too quickly." And Rob Kardashian somehow snuck by the two long-time frontrunners and got a perfect score on his freestyle, cruising into first place.

Dancing with the Stars' remaining three couples face off in the first part of the finals with two dances, including the all-important freestyle. Did J.R. recover from his ankle injury?

Did Ricki maintain her momentum? Or did Rob surprise again?

Is Dancing with the Stars' Mirrorball trophy still J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff's to lose?

The frontrunner suffered an ankle injury last week, meaning Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke, and Ricki Lake and Derek Hough are still very much in the running — not that they were ever completely out of it. Kardashian's improbable journey may be the story of the season, and Lake has Hough, the show's first three-time champ, in her corner.

Ricki Lake is back! The Dancing with the Stars contestant's upcoming daytime talk show, The Ricki Lake Show, will launch in September 2012.

"I want to spark ideas and conversations and inspire people to take active roles in their communities, relationships and their well-being," Lake said in a statement Thursday. Her original talk show, Rick Lake , ran from 1993 to 2004.

Derek Hough is already the first Dancing with the Stars pro to win three Mirrorball trophies, but will he be the first to win four? "Honestly, I don't feel that pressure to win this season, so we'll see what happens," he tells TVGuide.com.

"In the past, I've felt pressure to win, but I think this year, it's anybody's to win and nobody's to lose." Hough and Ricki Lake will dance it out against J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff, and Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke for Season 13 glory.

Courteney Cox has praised estranged husband David Arquette's stint on Dancing with the Stars. Cox and the couple's daughter Coco frequently attended Dancing with the Stars tapings prior to Arquette and professional partner Kym Johnson's elimination earlier this month.

Discussing the effect the show had on her family, the Cougar Town actress credited the dance series with bringing her and Coco closer to Arquette.

His mother made him do the show. He wanted to quit the first week. And for the first weeks of rehearsal, he couldn't even look his pro partner, Cheryl Burke, in the eye.

Sources inside Dancing With the Stars say Rob Kardashian making it all the way to the finals has been nothing short of miraculous. He cops to not wanting to do the show at all, and being pushed by his mom, Kris Jenner, the master reality show puppeteer who pulls the family strings. "My mom made me do the show," says Kardashian, 24. "She forced me to do it. I had the ultimate decision, but it's something I never pictured myself doing, nor did 80 percent of the world think I could do."

"I was just completely off-key tonight," J.R. Martinez said as he limped off the ballroom floor during Monday night's semi-finals on Dancing With the Stars.

The 28-year-old actor and Iraqi war veteran, who many thought was running away with the competition, was suddenly and very painfully hobbled Saturday by a sprained right ankle that twisted under him during rehearsals. "And it sucks because you let yourself down, you let your partner down."

Cheryl Burke, a two-time Dancing with the Stars champ, feels a little rusty being in the semifinals. "It's been a couple seasons since I've made it this far, so I have to get used to it again!" she tells TVGuide.com.

"But I'm very excited to be back and to have a shot at another final." Burke and Rob Kardashian will duke it out for a spot in the final — with three dances — against J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff, Ricki Lake and Derek Hough, and Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

We may have missed seeing Len Goodman on last week’s Strictly Come Dancing panel line-up when he was away in the US. But our American cousins got to see all they could wish of the 67-year-old judge. He appeared dancing, apparently naked, beside a Los Angeles swimming pool, his modesty protected only by a computer-generated glitter ball.

Normally bow-tied, Len bared all as he filmed a spoof for the US version of the show, Dancing With The Stars.It seems Len has softened his views since he criticised the 19-year-old daughter, Bristol, of US politician Sarah Palin for her “overly sexy” rumba on the US show in 2010.

How tough is television commentator Nancy Grace? Just ask her how she has consistently managed to put a good face on things — including her elimination from Dancing With the Stars on Tuesday night.

"You know what?" she says. "There is never a bad day. Nobody's dead. Nobody's dismembered. I've been dancing with Tristan [her pro partner, Tristan MacManus]. My children are alive. It's all good."
