Ice skating star is Mr Battle

Emmerdale actor and Dancing on Ice winner Matthew Wolfenden will be this year’s Mr Battle of Flowers.

The 32-year-old, who plays David Metcalfe in the ITV farming soap, will escort Miss Battle of Flowers Rebecca Houzé – the daughter of a farmer from St Ouen – when she takes centre stage at this year’s parades on 9 and 10 August.

Matthew 'too busy to set date'

Dancing on Ice winner Matthew Wolfenden has revealed he has been too busy to sort out his marriage following his triumph on the ITV1 show.

He and Emmerdale co-star Charley Webb got engaged at Christmas 2009 but more than two years on they have still to set a date. Matthew tells Hello! magazine: "We don't disagree about what we want to do for our wedding. But up 'til now, we haven't had a minute to plan it."

I’m celebrating my win with a trip to the hospital

Dancing On Ice champion Matthew Wolfenden is marking his victory – with a visit to hospital for two MRI scans. The Emmerdale star beat Jorgie Porter and Chico Slimani in Sunday night's final but the gruelling competition has left him suffering a catalogue of injuries.

Between rehearsals with his ice partner Nina Ulanova, Matthew kept up working five days a week playing David Metcalfe in the ITV soap.

Matthew: I don’t know if I’d do the show again

Dancing on Ice star Matthew Wolfenden has revealed that he doesn’t know if he’d want to compete in the show again.

The Emmerdale hunk was crowned the winner of the ice skating show last night after beating off stiff competition from Hollyoaks stunner Jorgie Porter and performer Chico Slimani, but speaking on This Morning, he admitted that he didn’t know just how difficult the show would be.

Matthew reveals he is over the moon

What a night it was last night as Matthew Wolfenden was crowned Dancing on Ice 2012 champion, after wowing with stunning skates to Singing In The Rain, Don’t Stop Me Now and, of course, the Bolero.

Speaking after his triumphant victory over fellow soap star Jorgie Porter and X Factor favourite Chico Slimani, Matthew said: “I’m a bit lost for words, I’m so over the moon. I can’t describe it. I think it’ll take a few days to sink in.”
